Opportunity

Project Summary

I went through a skater punk phase in high school coincidentally the same time I went through a brief video game period. During that time I created this piece in one of our explorations in art class utilizing non-traditional media. In other words trying to create something out of an unusual medium such as wire, in this case. I bended and wrapped this custom figure and then spray painted the wire. Finally I adhered it to a wooden block base and painted that black with purple highlights.

Approach

I twisted and bended the wire to assemble and create this custom figure with a skate board in tow. Once the sculpture was complete I spray painted the wire and painted the wooden base I was adhering it to. The sculpture has a silver and gold paint base while the wood base is black with purple hatch marks. I used a hot glue gun to adhere the sculpture to the wooden base layer. Acrylic paint and spray paint were both used. The entire piece is handmade from scratch.

Solution

The final sculpture stands vertically with the skater punk figure and skateboard in tow. He is attached to a wooden base with glue gun and glistens in the light with the gold and silver paint job. I have had this dude for quite a while and am looking to part with him soon.

Impact

Some lucky admirer would be lucky to have this edgy skater punk wire sculpture to decorate their garage or office or maybe a young kids room. The sculpture stands vertically although no taller than a ruler. There is a lot of life left in this sculpture and anyone would enjoy the figure.
